The Sims 4 is getting a new expansion pack, set in a charming countryside town called Henford-on-Bagley. Developer Maxis announced the expansion, called Cottage Living, on YouTube Thursday.
There’s a lot going on in the trailer — and judging from the fan response on YouTube, players are excited. Cottage Living will add farming — finally!!! — and barnyard animals, like llamas, chickens, and cows. There are also bunnies and foxes, too — plus cross-stitching, milking cows, picnics, and farm stands. We also spotted a multi-color cow. It’s coming on July 22 to Windows PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Maxis said in a news release that Sims can now live off their own land: Growing vegetables, harvesting milk and eggs, and foraging in the woods. Of course, there are also vegetable-growing contests for Sims with extra large eggplants.
“The Sims 4 offers players a variety of activities and locations that expand their Sims’ experience, and Cottage Living will offer them an abundance of new ways to embrace village life,” The Sims 4 producer Antonio Romeo said in a news release. “This pack enables Sims to live their garden-to-table lifestyle, and we look forward to players living out their fantasies of building a charming cottage in the new world, Henford-on-Bagley.”
It’s been a busy summer for the team working on The Sims 4. It just released a new Game Pack, called Dream Home Designer, a pack that was preceded by an outdoor courtyard item kit. Multiple different base-game updates — like improved bunk beds — are being implemented, too. The last expansion pack, Snowy Escape, was released in November; before that, Eco Living came in 2019.
