Created by the masters at Larian Studios, this game is an innovative take on the RPG genre, combining stunning graphics, a compelling story, and fast-paced gameplay.

Reviews
Before BG3, my gaming experience was limited, with the most engagement I had being with Hades on the Switch, but as a dedicated TTRPG and D&D enthusiast (yes, I’ve watched all 900+ hours of Critical Role and Dimension20), I’m drawn to the collaborative and storytelling aspects of games. Despite my initial reservations due to hardware limitations, my curiosity about BG3, known for its D&D mechanics and turn-based combat, was piqued by online clips and chatter among friends and the D&D community. Stumbling upon a Reddit post led me to try the game via GeForce Now, despite my underpowered laptop and the game’s seemingly inaccessible nature for me at the time.
Fast forward to now, with over 400 hours into BG3, multiple campaigns under my belt, and a new gaming PC, this game has profoundly impacted my life, offering a blend of stunning graphics, heartwarming stories, and an immersive experience that continuously surprises with its depth and creativity. The game’s dedication to storytelling, character development, and player choice, alongside its successful capture of the essence of a D&D game, has not only provided an incredible escape during tough times but has also fostered a vibrant community that I’m grateful to be a part of. Larian Studios has truly crafted a masterpiece that deserves every bit of praise it receives.
It’s the best game I’ve played in a long time. Best single player RPG since Dragonage Origins. (Also supports multi-player, which works quite well)
It has an amazing cast of voice actors. The core companions are really well-written, and all have their quests to explore, many of which are linked to the main story.
Gameplay is really engaging. You can save freely whenever you want, even mid-conversation.
It’s based on the D&D 5 ruleset, but they made some necessary changes (like no prestidigitation spell).
One thing to be aware of – Long Resting. A bunch of cutscenes that advance the story will happen in the camp, when you rest. For this reason, I suggest resting quite often. You can also go to the camp and ‘end the day’ without taking a long rest to get the story stuff.

As a long-time gamer and Dungeon & Dragons Gamemaster, my experience with Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate III has been nothing short of extraordinary. The game exceeded my expectations, blending the essence of D&D and CRPG history into a modern, accessible experience. It’s a perfect entry point for newcomers to D&D and a nostalgic journey for veterans, crafted with a deep respect for the genre’s roots.
Baldur’s Gate III stands out as a testament to Larian Studios’ commitment to quality and player satisfaction. It offers immense replayability without resorting to micro-transactions or subscriptions, a rarity in today’s gaming landscape. This game is a precious find in the western market, embodying the care and dedication that seem all too rare in gaming today. Larian Studios has earned my full adoration and respect for creating a game that not only pays homage to its predecessors but also provides a truly captivating experience.
