Reviews
Truly, Palworld is one of the best games to have been released in recent years. It’s astounding how this game, labeled as ‘Early Access,’ manages to offer more than many AAA titles that are priced three times higher. Sure, there are a few bugs and areas that could use some refinement (like the Pal AI, for instance), but these minor issues hardly detract from the overall enjoyable gameplay. In my opinion, these small flaws are negligible.
Palworld is a must-play for fans of games like Ark, Stardew Valley, or even those who just love the Pokeymans series.
Protagonists in typical Pokemon-like games: “As long as we stick together, we can accomplish anything.”
Protagonist in Palworld: Engages in a slew of nefarious activities including enslavement, animal cruelty, poaching, murder, destruction of property, crimes against humanity (and all other species, by extension), and conducts unethical experimentation.
10/10
Palworld presents an excellent blend of creature capture and survival building gameplay. It involves using weapons to befriend your favorite monsters in the wild and turning them into industrious animals. The game progresses at a brisk pace and has a straightforward learning curve, making it accessible for anyone to pick up and play. Even when playing solo, it doesn’t feel lonely as I have an army of captured friends working towards a common goal.
While Palworld will inevitably be compared to Pokemon, it truly stands apart. It goes beyond mere capturing, collecting, and the rock-paper-scissors mechanic. There are RPG elements that allow you to enhance your character’s stats. Monsters can learn up to three moves, and their stats can be boosted too. You can create a guild in a massive server, engage in guild wars, interact with AI merchants scattered across the world, and team up to take down Raid Bosses. Palworld is genuinely fun and functional, and it’s a game that promises to continue evolving.
To put it briefly, Palworld is an extremely addictive and fun game. It’s important to note that this isn’t a game where you can dive in guns blazing from the start. You’ll need to level up before you can craft a gun, and not all Pals are capable of using firearms – in fact, most can’t.
The game strikes a fantastic balance between a survival game and a monster collecting experience. While it shares some elements with other monster collector games that start with P, Palworld definitely carves out its own identity and stands firmly on its own gameplay.
Initially, I thought it was just a meme game, but when I had the chance to play it during a network test access, I was utterly astounded. It exceeded all my expectations to the point where it became an instant download for me.
The game does have some lore, but it’s largely hidden and scattered in text form throughout the game. Don’t expect a deep story or intricate quests – it’s more of a survival game at its core.
The UI could use some improvement, but it’s something you can get accustomed to. The Pal models are so well-designed that I often struggle to decide who to include in my limited main team, especially given how cool the later-level Pals look.
