Reviews
Back when I was in college I went to hang out at a friend’s place in order for him to show me this new cowboy game that had come out on Xbox 360. Me and this dude had a lot of discussions about gaming… His point of view was that PC gaming was dead, and I disagreed…
My Friend: “Dude this game is so awesome, totally worth to buy a 360 to play it…”
Me: “Nah man I’ll just wait until they release on PC.”
My Friend: “You sure dude? I heard they have no plans to release this on PC.”
Me: “Nah… Rockstar games allways release on PC… Give it some time!”
Cut to 14 years later…
Me: “Red Dead is on PC ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”
I just sent this text to his old number, not even sure if it still works…
I’ve played Red Dead Redemption’s PC port for a little while, and it’s an excellent adaptation of the original classic. The visuals are stunning, bringing the game to life in high resolution and capturing all the nostalgia of one of my all-time favorites. I haven’t encountered any bugs or glitches so far; the port runs smoothly and feels incredibly polished. If you’re a fan of the original or experiencing it for the first time, this version is a must-play. Highly recommend!
Another long-awaited game finally gets its PC port, and Double Eleven has done an excellent job. While the presentation hasn’t been significantly enhanced, this feels like a blessing after the issues with the “Definitive Edition” of the GTA Trilogy. The price may seem steep, but considering the work required for a late port like this, it’s understandable—and I’d much rather have the game than not.
This release reminds us of when Rockstar first began taking itself seriously, moving toward more mature storytelling, as seen in RDR and GTA4. While many fans pushed for a return to the flashy silliness of earlier GTA games, the RDR series proves Rockstar can deliver depth and respectability. Now, we just need ports of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to preserve those great narratives for PC players.
Games like this are why I wish Steam had a neutral recommendation option. On one hand, this is Red Dead Redemption. One of the greatest open-world games ever, finally on PC after 14 years.
On the other hand, there are virtually no changes that have been made to this game that Rockstar are willing to charge full price for, AND they’ve removed multiplayer. The graphics look basically the same, there isn’t any additional content as far as I am aware. Unless you’ve never played this game before, it’s best just to wait until it’s on special.
About time, RDR is finally on PC. Better late than never. And im pleased to say the port is actually properly done, no bugs or issues to report. Not like the GTA trilogy fiasco.
But at the current price it is just way too expensive. Come on Rockstar, don’t be bigger theives that the O’Driscoll gang!!!
