Screenshots, “authors”, changes and more

For the 20th anniversary of the third part, we received a great gift – first showing of GTA: Trilogy – Definitive Edition… Release date and price coincided with those, what predicted

But the general appearance of the “final edition” was not the same as one might have expected. To be honest, it remained a mystery to me why this project was accepted so calmly and somewhere even favorably. “Trilogy” looks unnaturally cartoonish and somehow “pretty”, frankly. Instead of just doing quality work on bugs, we are rolling out something that resembles a GTA, loaded with various mods. This can be seen in both the trailer and screenshots provided by Rockstar Games.

The most poignant detail regarding the reissue: it was not R * Dundee, who recently joined the ranks of “rock stars” and who was spoken of as the author of the “final edition”, who worked on it, but Grove Street Games (formerly War Drum Studios), a third party studio contractor. The fact is that it was these “craftsmen” who gave us 10-year-old remasters. Yes, those same mobile ports … Recall. In GTA 3, the angle of view in the screensavers was changed (in some cut-scenes, the faces / heads of the characters were literally “clipped”), the map was added, but it was not possible to implement it normally, and it became very difficult to see some markers on the radars. Mobile GTA: Vice City is a cartoon version of the original, especially if you enable Russian in the settings. And the remaster of GTA: San Andreas generally became the quintessence of “professionalism” – it took Vadim M. an hour and a half to parse all its jambs …

In general, for me as a player, GTA: Trilogy – Definitive Edition has already died twice. When I saw the trailer and when I found out who behind the development… And the price tag does not add enthusiasm. The copyright holder actually says: you do not need to pay three times at 60 cents (on sale) – pay only once, but $ 60 …

There is a chance that later the games will be distributed separately, and not only as part of a collection. For example, already at the start, that is, from November 11, the updated GTA: San Andreas will appear in the Xbox Game Pass service. The Troika will be available to PlayStation Now subscribers from December 7th.
