Counterplay Games is bringing its looter-slasher Godfall to PlayStation 4, the developer announced at Gearbox Entertainment’s E3 2021 showcase on Saturday. Godfall was originally released in November 2020 as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive (it also came to the Epic Games Store for PC), but will make the jump to the last-gen console this August.
Godfall will also get a new expansion, Fire and Darkness, and a free update called Lightbringer on Aug. 10. Fire and Darkness will add new content in the form of a new realm and new monsters, while the Lightbringer update will add new endgame content, a matchmaking beta, and new loot and cosmetics.
Counterplay originally announced Godfall back in 2019 as one of the first PS5 titles. Gearbox Publishing published the game. In our review of the game, we called Godfall an ambitious “overstuffed mess” that “tries to supplant depth with a veneer of complexity.”
