The breakout animated hit K-Pop: Demon Hunters is officially set for a follow-up, as confirmed by representatives from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation.
The sequel is tentatively scheduled for a 2029 release, with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans returning to helm the project. While production is underway, specific plot details remain closely guarded secrets.
The original feature debuted in the summer of 2025, centering on the members of the world-renowned K-pop group Huntrix. In between high-profile performances, the idols lead double lives as supernatural warriors, neutralizing demonic entities and interdimensional threats through the power of mystical melodies and synchronized choreography.
Demon Hunters currently reigns as the most-watched title in Netflix history, boasting over 500 million views. Critics showered the film with praise, resulting in a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Beyond its commercial success, the movie garnered significant hardware during awards season, securing both a Golden Globe and a Grammy, alongside two Academy Award nominations.
