About this game
Resident Evil 4 (2023) is a modern remake of the iconic survival horror third-person shooter. In 2023 the legendary 2005 game was reimagined and released on PC and new consoles with updated visuals, controls, and mechanics that meet current standards. The remake’s plot stays faithful to the original. Former Raccoon City police officer and now special agent Leon S. Kennedy travels to a remote village in Spain to rescue the US President’s daughter Ashley Graham from the cult Los Illuminados.
The world quickly becomes a nightmare. The locals known as ganado are infected with the Las Plagas parasite and no longer behave like ordinary people. Leon must fight hordes of possessed villagers, terrifying monsters, and powerful bosses while moving through the village, an ancient castle, and other dangerous locations to complete his mission. Resident Evil 4 Remake blends a gripping story, dynamic action, and horror elements.
In the updated version of Resident Evil 4 the developers introduced many improvements and new elements. Here are the main features of the remake:
- Modern graphics and atmosphere. The remake looks stunning. The dated yellow brown filter is gone and the image is more natural, realistic, and detailed. Locations such as the village, castle, and island are rebuilt in the modern RE Engine. Darker lighting and redesigned enemies create a heavier atmosphere that amplifies the horror.
- Dynamic action and survival. Resident Evil 4 still mixes horror with action and the combat takes center stage. Leon wields varied weapons from pistols and shotguns to rifles and grenades and must break through crowds of aggressive foes. Enemies are relentless. They attack in groups, try to corner the hero, and keep the tension high. Ammo is scarce so every shot counts and mistakes can be fatal.
- Improved gameplay mechanics. New systems make play deeper and more convenient. Leon can now sneak up and silently take down some enemies to thin the herd before open combat. The knife plays a much larger role and becomes a full melee weapon. Leon can parry enemy strikes, deflect thrown weapons, break free from grabs, and instantly finish stunned foes.
- Reworked story and characters. Leon and Ashley’s tale remains close to the 2005 original but the script is more cohesive and logical with added details. Luis Serra’s role is expanded with more about his character and motives. Ashley herself is reimagined with a stronger personality compared to the often helpless image from the original. The story is more atmospheric and emotionally convincing while preserving the spirit of the classic.

After release the developers expanded Resident Evil 4 with additional content. Below is a list of the included add-ons.
The Mercenaries
A classic arcade mode returned as free DLC shortly after launch. Fight waves of enemies on timed arenas, extend the timer, and build combos to earn the highest score.
Playable characters unlock as you progress. Leon, Ada Wong, HUNK, Jack Krauser, Luis Serra, and Albert Wesker.
Separate Ways
A story DLC where you play as Ada Wong. Her parallel narrative unfolds alongside Leon’s main campaign. Ada’s gameplay features unique mechanics including a grappling hook for swift movement and access to elevated positions.
Separate Ways complements the remake’s plot with scenes that mirror the main story and reveal what was happening behind the scenes while Leon fought his battles.
The remake preserves everything that made the original beloved while making it relevant for a new generation. If you want a gripping action horror game with deep gameplay and constant tension Resident Evil 4 Remake on PC is an excellent choice.

Reviews
I may have found the sweetspot on how I want my horror games to play out.
More action oriented.. less jumpscares which means less poop in my pants. And beautiful ladies have been quite a comfort in this game that definitely made the whole Spanish vacation journey quite manageable for my cowardly heart..
Yep.. this is definitely a 10/10..
The remake is a masterpiece , they have hold onto the original in every possible way, they kept all the good stuff, and redid the downsides of the original, the graphics are awesome, control are still a bit clunky but that gives that charm of fun. And all ways do greet the merchant with respect. No one welcomes you more then him.
To be fair I owned the original but could never get past the controls, so for me, this remake was great! I really enjoyed it and making fun of Ashley… 😀 And omg Luis’ jacket. I want one. Beautiful! (Yeah yeah, he was interesting too, wink wink.) 😀 I’ve played a bunch of RE games, but sadly I’m late to the party, so I’ve played them all out of any sort of order… Someday I should watch some timeline thing that puts everything right. But i do know who everyone is and all. Thank goodness. 😀 Anyway, silliness aside, I really enjoyed this one and I hope they keep remaking all the ones I haven’t played yet. 😀
Simply put, the experience of playing, even tho I have played the older version of this game, it still feels very fresh. This game is a little different from the previous resident evil 4, in a good way of course, but the number of ammunition and weapon types have increased greatly, the bosses and villagers have also gotten a little stronger but you are able to parry now so i guess that made the game more balanced.
The game’s plot is simple. Leon travels to a secret Spanish village to find the missing president’s daughter, basically the story of the knight rescuing the princess. The plot is weak, but fun~
