First details of The X-Files reboot revealed

Ryan Coogler is moving forward with pre-production for the highly anticipated “The X-Files” reboot. Filming is currently scheduled to take place in Vancouver from May to June 2026. This choice of location brings the franchise back to its roots, as the iconic original series starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson was also famously filmed in British Columbia.

Producers are currently casting for five pivotal new roles, with a focus on finding actors of Indigenous descent. This suggests the pilot’s narrative may lean heavily into Native American cultural heritage and local folklore.

Early plot details indicate that the episode will feature a motorcycle gang, a mysterious disappearance, and a school-aged girl at the center of the mystery.

Character Profiles:

Jenn: A young Indigenous woman serving in the local police force. She plays a key role in assisting the main protagonists with their investigation.

Julie: An elder in the community who works in social services. While she initially offers her expertise to the case, she gradually begins to distance herself as the investigation unfolds.

Simisa: A young Indigenous woman who is grappling with significant psychological trauma following her two-year disappearance.

Willie: A young man recently released from prison. He is struggling to sever ties with a local biker gang and build a new life for himself.

Salkow: The daughter of a biker, this Indigenous girl is remarkably mature and intelligent for her age, having grown up in a volatile and unstable household.
