Billie Eilish is set to make her feature film debut as the lead in a new adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s seminal novel, The Bell Jar. This project marks the first major big-screen role for the 25-year-old artist, whose representatives are currently finalizing the terms for the upcoming production.
The Bell Jar serves as a poignant reflection of the most challenging chapter in Plath’s own life. The plot follows a young journalist grappling with recurring bouts of severe depression while struggling to find her place in an unforgiving world.
The adaptation will be helmed by Sarah Polley, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind Women Talking. While this is Eilish’s first venture into feature-length cinema, she previously made a striking impression with a guest role in Donald Glover’s psychological thriller series, Swarm.
