Streaming giant Netflix is currently spearheading a fresh historical epic titled «Alexander», which will chronicle the life of the legendary Macedonian ruler.
Canadian filmmaker Jacob Tierney (known for The Trotsky) has been appointed as the showrunner. The project will draw inspiration from Annabel Lyon’s 2009 novel «The Golden Mean», a story that explores Alexander’s formative years and his education under the tutelage of the great philosopher Aristotle.
The most notable cinematic take on the conqueror remains Oliver Stone’s 2004 biopic Alexander, starring Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie. However, that production famously struggled at the box office and was met with heavy criticism upon its release.
