An anonymous Ubisoft employee recently asserted in an interview that the studio remains fully capable of delivering blockbuster hits, despite facing significant backlash from both the gaming community and its internal workforce.
The source further noted:
The employee emphasized that the company’s transition to a “creative houses” model provides developers with the necessary framework to address past missteps and accelerate the pace of innovation, offering a genuine “reason for optimism” regarding the firm’s trajectory.
This follows a major strategic pivot in January, where Ubisoft reorganized its franchises into five specialized creative divisions. This restructuring resulted in the cancellation of several high-profile projects, such as the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, and signaled impending staff reductions. Tensions reached a breaking point in February when more than 1,200 employees staged a strike to protest unsustainable workloads and aggressive cost-cutting measures.
