Star Wars: Galactic Racer Developers Explain Why Anakin Is Absent
Anakin Skywalker will not appear in Star Wars: Galactic Racer at launch to maintain franchise canon, Fuse Games studio head Matt Webster confirmed. However, the developer has not ruled out his addition in future updates.
In an interview, Webster explained that the team wants to strictly respect the official timeline. Because the racing game takes place after the original trilogy, the main modes feature only characters who are alive during that era.
The studio also avoids directly recreating film events. For example, the Boonta Eve Classic podrace from The Phantom Menace serves strictly as an inspiration, as its outcome is already established in canon.
When asked about the possibility of adding Anakin after release, Webster said, “Who knows where it will lead?” He noted that the launch is only the beginning for the game, with regular content drops planned post-launch.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
