The Fortnite island has been invaded by aliens and the battle royale game’s new season is all about stopping them. Thankfully, players will have the help of allies like, Doctor Slone, Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, and Superman himself. The new season also brings several alien-themed changes, including new vehicles, weapons, and crafting options.
Perhaps the biggest gameplay change coming in Fortnite’s new season is the addition of flying saucer vehicles. As you might expect, the stolen alien aircraft can be used to fly around the map with your whole squad in tow, and can even pick up certain objects. However, they aren’t too easy to get ahold of. Rather than just finding them parked around the map, you’ll have to shoot one down or hijack it to get in the driver’s seat.
The saucers aren’t the only new tech that players can use in season 7. There’s also a new recon scanner, which can be used to scout the area around you, a rail gun, which can shoot through walls, a pulse rifle, and the alien’s Kymera Ray Gun — with even more coming throughout the season.
On top of all this, the alien’s new technology also changes the way players can upgrade their gear. While upgrades were already around in the Primal update, players can use the new Nuts and Bolts resources to construct certain Vaulted weapons that have been temporarily removed from the game, or fundamentally alter their assault rifles, submachine guns, and shotguns.
As with any new Fortnite season there’s also a new battle pass arriving with Chapter 2 season 7. This time around, the battle pass is reviving the Battle Stars system that Fortnite used to use, and it will allow players a little more choice in the order they unlock things. Which is especially exciting since the skins this time around include a customizable alien of your own design, Superman, and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty.
