Fortnite’s newest season is here and, after helping Agent Jones disrupt the Zero Point, some parts of the Fortnite island have gone back in time. The trip back in time brings plenty of changes to the game, including new upgradable weapons, animals on the island, and new areas on the map. Season 6 also brings the pump shotgun back to the game, which should make most Fortnite fans happy.

After the Zero Point exploded in this season’s opening mission, a giant spire formed in the middle of the Fortnite island. Spreading out from the spire is a new biome called Primal. This area of the island, at least for now, has been transported back in time. The biome now has ancient buildings, prehistoric animals, and strange new “Makeshift” weapons, which are like ancient version of the Fortnite guns we’re all familiar with.

The weapons themselves are the most complicated part of the new season. While they may appear to be as old as everything else in the Primal biome, they can be upgraded to become more powerful. By collecting scraps of bone from the animals around the area, you can upgrade each of the Makeshift weapons into special new “Primal” weapons that are extra powerful. You can also upgrade Fortnite’s more traditional weapons using mechanical parts that can be found around the map too.

The smallest, but most welcome, change that came with season 6 was the return of the pump shotgun. Epic removed Fortnite’s most iconic weapon last season and fans quickly grew to miss it. Thankfully, that decision only lasted through season 5, and the pump is back in the game.

Just like all Fortnite seasons, season 6 will continue to grow and change as the season progresses. Fortnite season 6 also brings a new battle pass to the game with skins like Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, Raven from Teen Titans, and eventually international soccer superstar Neymar Jr. As of right now, Fortnite chapter 2 season 6 is schedule to last until June 7.
