Almost six months after Elite: Dangerous gamers made first contact with the Thargoids, the neighborhood is seeing a second kind of encounter with the ominous aliens, and it is each bit as spooky as the primary.

Elite: Dangerous’ Thargoids now seem on planets, and cannot be killed

Thargoids have been first discovered back in January, yanking gamers out of hyperdrive and scanning them in area. The new encounter is planetbound, and happens close to alien buildings, higher identified to the neighborhood as ‘barnacles’. Your planetary rover is disabled, and a Thargoid ship hovers over the barnacle, presumably refuelling.

If you need to set off the encounter, Reddit has some recommendation for you. One suggestion is just to “hang about a barnacle and wait”, whereas one other reckons scanning the barnacle will assist.
