Quite verbose these last days, DotEmu gives us some news of its Windjammers 2 which is slow, it is true, to come out of its development phase. It must be said that the game was announced in August 2018 with the goal of being released the following year in 2019, but things did not go as planned. In question, a small team (5/6 people) which works on it, and a production which requires a little more time and resources, in particular as regards all the online aspect which must be uncompromising. Still, until now, Windjammers 2 was only planned for PC and Nintendo Switch, but the title will also receive a release on PS4 and PS5 as well. Good news never comes alone, we learn that a public beta has been open since today, Wednesday August 11, and which allows the curious to see the changes that have been made since the previous beta phase. We remember that DotEmu had to use netcode rollback for the matches to be smooth, which postponed the game for several months.
Note that if PlayStation players can play with each other (PS4 vs PS4), cross-play with the PC will not be activated for this beta phase. However, the beta will last long enough, since it will be valid until August 22. Until then, we can enjoy the last video which illustrates everything that has just been said, knowing that it is the character of Gary Scott that is detailed. Windjammers 2 is set for release this year if all goes well. Courage in all cases.
