What if Max Payne fought werewolves in a reality-breaking hotel?

Sometimes, a game trailer grabs your attention with its sheer amount of style. That’s the case with El Paso, Elsewhere, an upcoming game from Strange Scaffold, the maker of An Airport For Aliens Currently Run By Dogs and Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator.

El Paso, Elsewhere is a love letter to Max Payne, complete with slow-mo dives and gunplay. The twist is that the action all takes place in a mysterious motel that’s suddenly gained 46 new floors, and they’re all jam packed with vampires and werewolves. Luckily, the protagonist is armed with Molotovs (full of holy flame, of course) stakes, and other tools for fighting back the undead.

It’s also a game that draws heavily from an earlier era of games, which is an interesting trend. PlayStation-era graphics have their time in the sun again, as they’re appropriately retro.

El Paso, Elsewhere is set for a 2022 release.
