Vol. 77 – Ready or Not Development Briefing

Attention Officers,

Welcome to the 77th edition of our Ready or Not Development Briefing, dated August 30th, 2024!

August has been a dynamic month filled with patches and occasional downtime across our team.

In this briefing, we share highlights from Gamescom and provide a brief introduction to some recent development paths in RoN, as well as subtle hints from an ‘alternate reality’ storyline.

A quick note― if you’ve admired the Ready or Not development shirts in the upcoming photos and would like one for yourself, stay tuned for future merchandise releases. We put significant effort into selecting merchandise partners and designs to provide you with high-quality gear.

Note: These development briefings are designed to keep you informed about parts of our ongoing efforts for Ready or Not. However, they do not cover everything we’re working on at any given moment. Please remember that the content featured in our briefings may still be under development and subject to change.

Patches and Upcoming Features

We deeply appreciate your patience and feedback regarding Patches 2 and 3, which followed the Home Invasion Release. Leading up to Gamescom, our team worked diligently to ensure Patch 3 was prepared and released during the convention.

As our Game Director, Gruntr, noted in the previous briefing, DLC 1 represented our first content release post-1.0, providing valuable insights for future DLC development.

Currently, our team is ramping up efforts on a range of unannounced features that promise to enhance and refresh the game.

We’re still navigating the production phase for many of these features, with workload allocations ongoing, but the prospects are genuinely exciting.

Overall, we are exploring ways to make missions more dynamic and implementing new systems for AI interactions. We are also investigating various quality of life improvements and beyond.

Alongside this, we continue to address bugs and crashes reported by our community.

DLC 1 was just the beginning in terms of feature additions. The changes planned for DLC 2 aim to build upon this further.

Gamescom Engagement

As a remote yet closely-knit studio, we typically connect virtually. However, this month offered a unique opportunity for in-person planning and fan interactions at Gamescom 2024!

Much of the VOID team convened in Cologne, Germany about a week ago, relishing each other’s company (and perhaps a Kölsch or two) while connecting with industry peers. Many of these discussions will continue to develop internally but remain invigorating for our RoN development.

Meeting enthusiastic fans throughout the convention was equally important. We’re grateful to everyone who stopped by to say hello or express their appreciation. These moments are cherished, and we truly value the impact Ready or Not has made.

Roots which Run Deep

Longtime fans and newcomers alike may know that Ready or Not has a rich history all its own.

The intricate lines of lore tracing through these stories extend beyond narrow boundaries.

You may know individuals who have followed these elusive threads. Our community has a dedicated group who pursues these mysteries.

There’s no telling what the future holds.

Conclusion

We have some exciting new feature developments underway and enjoyed meeting many of you at Gamescom!

Although it’s too soon to delve into specifics about what we’re working on, as some aspects may change, details will solidify over time.

This concludes our 77th development briefing. Thank you for joining us, and be sure to check back next time for more development news!
