Soviet actor Vasily Skromny has passed away at the age of 61, according to various media outlets.
The cause of death was reported as a battle with cancer. Born in Odessa in 1964, Skromny earned lasting fame for his portrayal of the charismatic bully Makar Gusev, better known as “Gus,” in the beloved classic The Adventures of the Elektronic. His other notable screen credits include roles in The School, The Third Dimension, and Battalion Commanders.
After a short-lived but impactful acting career at the Odessa Film Studio, Skromny chose to leave the world of cinema behind. He eventually pursued a life at sea, serving as a boatswain on long-haul commercial vessels.
