Bunnie Xo has a very specific, albeit unconventional, vision for who should portray her in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of her memoir—and the choice might catch fans off guard.
After her autobiography, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, ascended the ranks of the New York Times Bestseller list, the podcaster and entrepreneur is preparing for her life story to hit the silver screen. The news comes on the heels of a major deal with 101 Studios, the production powerhouse behind the hit series Yellowstone.
During a high-energy appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which took place just hours after the deal was finalized, Bunnie shared her dream casting choice. Her pick? Jack Black. While the audience laughed, she remained playfully adamant, citing his charisma and “daddy” energy as the perfect fit to capture her spirit.
The film project, fast-tracked under a first-look agreement with Universal Pictures, promises to be a grit-filled chronicle of a life defined by resilience. Stripped Down doesn’t shy away from the darker chapters of Bunnie’s past, detailing harrowing experiences with domestic abuse, substance struggles, and near-fatal accidents. For Bunnie, the book was never about financial gain; it was a vessel for connection.
“I wanted it to be a conduit to connect with people and hopefully inspire someone along the way,” she explained to Kimmel. “It has taken on a life of its own.”
She views her journey as one of a “generational curse-breaker,” transforming past trauma into a platform for advocacy. “That mess becomes a message and the tests become a testimony,” she remarked, reflecting on the cathartic process of writing about her survival.
The interview also touched on the lighter side of her life, specifically her marriage to country music sensation Jelly Roll. Bunnie humorously recalled their first encounter in Las Vegas, which involved a “gross” van and a mattress covered in crumbs. Despite the unglamorous start, the pair forged a deep bond. She spoke glowingly of his recent health journey, noting how proud she is of his physical transformation.
Even with their massive success, the couple keeps things grounded with a healthy dose of mutual teasing. Bunnie admitted she rarely listens to his music at home, often skipping his tracks on streaming services just to mess with his “algorithm.”
As the film adaptation moves into development, Bunnie is already looking toward the future. She hinted at a second book, tentatively titled The Little Black Book, which will delve deeper into her professional history before she entered the limelight.
