Andrea Bocelli Advised Timothée Chalamet to Embrace Opera

The legendary Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli has weighed in on the recent controversial remarks made by Timothée Chalamet.

The star of the upcoming film *Marty Supreme* has found himself at the center of a public outcry following his dismissive comments about opera and ballet. In response, Bocelli suggested that Chalamet might benefit from truly immersing himself in these classic art forms.

“I believe we often tend to distance ourselves from things we have yet to truly encounter. Opera and ballet are disciplines that have transcended centuries; they continue to speak to the human heart because they fulfill a profound need for beauty, truth, and raw emotion. These are not relics of the past, but living languages that still possess the power to move us, provoke reflection, and unite different generations. I am convinced that a performer as sensitive as Timothée, who clearly understands the weight of emotion, will one day realize that opera and acting draw from the very same wellspring. Should he ever feel curious, I would be honored to host him as a guest at one of my concerts. Sometimes, just a few minutes of experiencing this music live is all it takes to understand why it has remained cherished across the globe for centuries,”

Bocelli remarked during an interview with People. In a previous conversation with Matthew McConaughey for CNN, Chalamet expressed that he deeply values his cinematic career and has no intention of trading it for the stage.

“I don’t want to work in ballet, opera, or anywhere else where people are just barely scraping by and where nobody gives a damn. With all due respect.”

Many international figures in the dance and opera communities have characterized Chalamet’s stance as both “disappointing” and “disrespectful.”
