Square Enix’s tactical RPG Triangle Strategy — previously known as Project Triangle Strategy made an appearance in Thursday’s Nintendo Direct, and now, it has an official release date: March 4, 2022.

Nintendo and Square Enix first teamed up to reveal Triangle Strategy in February. A free demo for the game also went up in the Nintendo eShop in February, and Square Enix took feedback from players about the game. The Nintendo Direct announcer said this feedback has played a role in development:

“In response to the survey about the demo released in February of this year, the game has been fine-tuned with a focus on elements that received lots of feedback. These include adjustments to the difficulty, improvements to on-screen visuals, camera angle controls, the ability to review previous dialogue, and streamlined game flow and loading times.”

Triangle Strategy is the latest title from the makers of Octopath Traveler; it’s a turn-based tactics game à la Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Players control a wide range of party members — mages, knights, archers, etc. — and march them through battles in a fantasy world.

The game’s main protagonist, Serenoa Wolffort, is heir to one of the world’s great houses. In his shoes, players have the power to change the world around them by making key decisions. Triangle Strategy’s story will feature a lot of “choice and consequences,” with the game’s narrative path changing depending on Wolffort’s actions.

Square Enix will launch the game exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
