Shin Megami Tensei 5 will come to Nintendo Switch on Nov. 11, according to a report from website Persona Central, which spotted the release date — and new gameplay and story details — on the game’s official Japanese website. Those details were later removed, Persona Central reported Thursday.

While the release date appeared to only specify the game’s Japanese release date, Nintendo and Atlus have said Shin Megami Tensei 5 will have “a simultaneous global launch on Nintendo Switch in 2021.” We’ve reached out to Atlus to confirm those details.

According to reported details from the official Shin Megami Tensei website, SMT 5 will star an ordinary high school student who is thrust into a battle between gods and demons, after visiting a barren world called Da’ath. There, the student merges with another being and transforms into an entity called Naobino. Players will explore a destroyed, demon-infested version of Tokyo in search of answers, all while battling hundreds of monsters.

Atlus first announced Shin Megami Tensei 5 in 2017, but didn’t reveal gameplay footage or details until summer 2020. Shin Megami Tensei 5 is planned for release on Nintendo Switch.

In May, Atlus rereleased Shin Megami Tensei 3 for Nintendo Switch. In our review, we called Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne HD Remaster “the definitive version of an already great game.”
