Saints Row: the confirmed reboot, still irreverent but more serious, to be like GTA?

It had been several weeks, even months, that rumors around a reboot of Saints Row hung out on the Internets. And once again, the insiders were right. It is indeed during the Opening Night Live of gamescom 2021 that Deep Silver and Volition confirmed the existence of this game, already scheduled for 2022. Renamed as classic “Saints Row”, the objective for developers is to start from scratch and wipe out the past, knowing that the last episode to date (Saints Row IV) already dates back to 2013. For the moment, no gameplay to show us, we will have to content with a full CGI trailer that still sets the tone and atmosphere of this new opus.

New Boss, new story, new city and new ambitions, the Volition studio wishes to approach the license in a less eccentric and a little more serious tone, undoubtedly to get closer to GTA. The tone will remain irreverent, he said, but it will be about building a crime empire from scratch and we will have to show fangs, and weapons. The playground will be the fictional city of Santo Ileso, and it will offer no less than 9 different districts (El Dorado, Financial, Montevista, Rodeo, etc.). This Saints Row cuvée 2022 will benefit from a brand new 3D engine, with a DA halfway between realistic rendering and cartoonishness. It will always be an open world and the gameplay should take the codes of the genre, with a lot of gunfights and other nonsense to blow up as many things as possible.

Saints Row is already slated for release on February 25, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
