Valve will begin moderating feedback flagged on Steam beginning subsequent week.
Comments reported by customers on Steam can be moderated by an inner groups starting September 25.
The firm mentioned it’s taking extra curiosity moderately on account of requests from builders. Reported posts on all Steam game hubs can be reviewed. Developers can choose out of getting their group pages moderated.
“In the past, we’ve been hesitant to get involved in the moderation of individual game discussions,” reads the notice on Steam. ” We didn’t need to step on the toes of game builders that need to have their very own fashion of communication with gamers and their very own set of pointers for conduct.”
“But over time, we’ve been hearing from more and more game developers that would actually prefer for us to take a more active role in discussion boards, at least to the extent of handling posts that are reported by other players. If you do already have your own moderation staff, or want complete control over the reported content in your hub, you can opt out of this service.”
Posts reported by a Steam customers can be put in a queue for the moderation group to evaluate. Valve will then take away something that violates its Community Guidelines. The group is not going to “actively peruse” group discussions or posting in threads. It will solely talk with customers “when necessary when issuing a warning or ban for reported content.”
