Who didn’t spend hours yelling back at a Bop It as a kid? The buzzy, fast-paced audio toy dominated playgrounds with its urgent prompts and competitive edge. Alliance Games has now translated that frantic fun into a digital form with Bop It: The Video Game.
For those unfamiliar, Bop It issues short vocal commands — “BOP IT!”, “PULL IT!”, “TWIST IT!” — and the player must execute the corresponding motion immediately. The premise is simple, but the tempo and complexity escalate quickly, turning split-second timing into the real challenge.
The video game preserves the toy’s musical identity. Composer 2Mello — known for work on titles such as Read Only Memories and Later Alligator — supplies an original soundtrack that trades mellow grooves for high-energy arrangements. Tracks accelerate alongside the gameplay, raising the BPM as your streak grows.
Bop It: The Video Game follows the same core loop: obey the prompts in time to build a streak; miss a cue or fall out of rhythm and you’re sent back to the start. The digital version expands the formula with additional modes — notably an Extreme Mode that introduces SPIN and FLICK commands to heighten intensity. These extra modes are available on macOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
Local multiplayer returns the toy’s social spirit: pass a single device between players or face off in Party Mode for head-to-head competition. Party Mode and Extreme Mode are both available on macOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. A built-in leaderboard lets you compare streaks globally, among friends, or just on your local device.
If you’ve been waiting to relive — or finally try — the chaotic charm of Bop It in digital form, the wait is over.
Bop It: The Video Game launches September 18, 2025 on Android, iOS, macOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
