Universal Pictures has officially scheduled the release of its upcoming “Exorcist” installment for March 12, 2027, according to industry reports.
The project features Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe (‘Hamnet’) in the leading roles. Horror maestro Mike Flanagan, acclaimed for ‘The Haunting of Hill House,’ is attached to both write and direct the film. While the cast is taking shape, specific narrative details remain shrouded in mystery.
This latest entry follows the legacy of William Friedkin’s 1973 masterpiece, which was adapted from the novel by William Peter Blatty. In late 2023, the franchise saw the debut of ‘The Exorcist: Believer.’ Despite facing a critical drubbing, that sequel proved to be a commercial success, grossing $137 million worldwide against a modest $30 million production budget.
