Red Dead Redemption port coming next week

The denouement of the story with not a remaster, not a remake Red Dead Redemption. On the official Rockstar Games website there was an announcement neither one nor the other – we are waiting for a port (but what about Zelnik’s words about disinterest in “simple porting”?) Western on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 (you can also run it on PS5). In addition to the original game, the publication will include the zombie add-on Undead Nightmare, however, only story modes are announced, without multiplayer. The only improvements mentioned (so far?) will be support for Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Latin Spanish. It will be possible to purchase the “new” RDR on August 17 for $50 without one cent, but for now we place a pre-order: Nintendo eShop And PlayStation Store. Those wishing to receive physical copies will have to wait until October 13th.

What conclusions are being drawn? If there are no questions about the Switch version (owners of a personal console will finally get something worthwhile from R *, and they are no strangers to such price tags), then about the rest … Why pay fifty bucks actually for something that is excellent fit into the scope of the PlayStation Plus subscription? Especially taking into account the fact that there is no talk of any improvements in the gameplay or graphics of the 13-year-old product. Is that the resolution, judging by the new screenshots posted on updated game page, will live up to 4K (on PS4 Pro and PS5; on Nintendo handheld – 1080p). For the sake of interest, you can compare screenshots with PlayStation 4, Switch and original platforms.

The port was handled by Double Eleven Studios, another third-party studio hired by Rockstar Games. The British have been in the industry since 2009, there are almost three dozen titles in the portfolio, and some employees (about 300 in total) come from Rockstar Leeds (both founders participated in the development of some parts of GTA and other R* games). Obviously, DES is much closer to “rock stars” than some GSG.

The main omission is that a huge audience, who literally dreamed of seeing the first RDR on a PC, was again left with nothing. But the owners of modern Xbox have nothing to be upset about – the western works perfectly on the backward compatibility system for less money.

Five bullets in the drum, sixth at the ready. Another hint of developers on GTA 6.
