Nearly a year after the PlayStation 5’s launch, its nigh impossible to buy a console without jumping through some hoops. And with supply and shipping issues still plaguing consumers, getting your hands on a PS5 this holiday season will continue to be a challenge. Thankfully, Sony is offering a shred of relief, letting would-be PS5 owners sign up for an opportunity to purchase a new console directly from the company.

According to Sony’s console order reservation page, the only prerequisite to sign up is a PlayStation Network ID. Sony says it will contact registrants via email, if they’re selected, with the opportunity to buy a PS5 starting in November.

Similar to the PS5 pre-order program Sony launched in 2020, the selection criteria is “based on previous interests and PlayStation activities.” And like that system, customers who are selected can only purchase one console and a limited number of accessories. Each invitation is limited to:

  • 1 PS5 console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
  • 2 DualSense wireless controllers (Bundles, Cosmic Red or Midnight Black)
  • 3 DualSense wireless controllers (White)
  • 1 PS5 Media Remote
  • 1 Pulse 3D wireless headset

Of course, being selected to buy a PlayStation 5 from Sony does not actually guarantee you’ll get one. If selected, Sony says you’ll have a set window to actually snatch the thing and availability is, naturally, limited.
