If this may reassure some, this shortage actually affects the entire high-tech industry, the fault of certain components that are difficult to produce. Faced with this established problem, Sony then thinks about a solution, which is approached timidly in a recent presentation of the financial results by the financial director of the firm, Hiroki Totoki.
For example, we could deal with the shortage by finding a secondary resource or changing the design. We are used to being flexible in the electronics industry. And during fiscal year 2021, we were able to adapt this flexibility to the situation.
Obviously, the change in design mentioned is intriguing. Sony is therefore thinking of upgrading the PS5, particularly in its design, shape or size or materials, to overcome certain parts supply problems and manufacture more consoles. This would also make it possible to satisfy some detractors, still as little seduced by the very distinct look of the machine: a slim PS5, less big, less tall, is also to be considered for a less expensive manufacture (hoping that the beast is just as quiet ).
For the moment, it is still a little too early for Sony to opt for such a change but one thing is certain: the Japanese giant will not close its doors to accelerate its growth. Remember that the organization intends to sell 14.8 million units in the second year of operation of the PS5, so as to do better than the already prolific PS4. Ambitious but undoubtedly achievable goals.
