While it is always very complicated to get a PS5, whether in France or in the rest of the world, we learn that the number of consoles delivered by Sony has nevertheless broken records in recent weeks. According to figures given by DigiTimes, who fetched this data from distributors and manufacturers in Taiwan, no less than 3.4 million PS5s were delivered in a single month, which is a record set for a PlayStation-stamped machine. It is even unheard of at the time of the global pandemic, knowing that DigiTimes expects an installed base of 16.8 to 18 million PS5 by the end of the year 2021. If the objectives are met, this will then be a new record for Sony Interactive Entertainment which probably did not expect such incredible results given the health situation, but also a price increase for the Blu-ray version of the PS5.
In France, according to some estimates, more than 107,000 PS5s were sold in the first week of marketing for around 340,000 consoles for the United Kingdom over the same operating period. We obviously have to wait for official figures from Sony, but the end of the year is going pretty well for the PlayStation brand.
