Netflix: the SVOD giant signs an agreement with Sony, the Uncharted film concerned

While it was believed that Sony Pictures would emulate Netflix’s competitors and launch its own SVOD platform, it decided to do the exact opposite by signing an agreement with the industry leader. This is indeed what indicates Deadline, which specifies that the pact covers four years and allows Sony Pictures to recover, in the process, more than a billion dollars. Against this sum, Netflix has secured the temporary exclusivity of home movies once they have been released in theaters and become available on Blu-ray / DVD.

Given that the agreement will start in 2022, Morbius, Uncharted, Where the crayfish sing, or Bullet train are obviously concerned, just like Spider-Man: Into Generation 2 as well as the next ones Jumanji and Bad boys. On the other hand, given that they are supposed to be released in 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, or Hotel Transylvania 4 are not included in the partnership, unless a last minute postponement is announced by then.

In addition, we are told that the agreement offers Netflix the possibility of producing future projects with the collaboration of Sony Pictures, or even of releasing certain works directly on VOD to give even more value to its catalog. Finally, it is important to underline that this rapprochement is above all of interest to the United States, Europe is not at all concerned for the moment.
