Justin Moore scores his ninth leader on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart (dated Aug. 28) as “We Didn’t Have Much” ascends from No. 3 to No. 1 in its 44th week. In the week ending Aug. 22, the nostalgic song, released on Valory Music, increased by 9% to 30.4 million audience impressions, according to MRC Data.
Paul DiGiovanni, Randy Montana and Jeremy Stover co-wrote “Much,” the lead single from Moore’s sixth LP, Straight Outta the Country, which arrived at its No. 38 high on Top Country Albums in May.
“It’s just humbling that country radio has continued to support my music throughout all these years,” Moore tells Billboard. “I signed my record deal in 2007, and they’ve helped make our career so special, providing us with hit after hit since then. It’s something I certainly don’t take for granted. I’m very grateful for the fans, along with my team, which is a ton of folks, from the road guys to management to my label. I’m damn proud to work alongside all of them.”
Moore links his third consecutive Country Airplay No. 1, following “Why We Drink” (August 2020) and “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home” (September 2019).
Moore — from Poyen, Ark. — first hit Country Airplay with the No. 38-peaking “Back That Thing Up” in December 2008. His second entry, “Small Town USA,” became his first No. 1 in October 2009.
On Hot Country Songs, which blends airplay, sales and streaming data, “Much” bumps 14-11 for a new high. In the week ending Aug. 19, it drew 4.3 million U.S. streams, up by 20% (helped by more prominent Amazon Music placement), and sold 900 downloads.
