Disney is shutting down all Marvel Heroes video games.
The media conglomerate, which owns Marvel, has mentioned that it’s chopping ties with Marvel Heroes developer Gazillion Entertainment. This sudden change was confirmed in an e-mail by a Marvel consultant to Kotaku.
“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down,” the consultant mentioned.
“We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”
It’s a little bit of a weird flip for Marvel Heroes, which was first launched as a PC-only MMO in 2013. The Diablo-esque loot RPG just lately got here to consoles for the primary time, as a part of the Marvel Heroes Omega update, which additionally overhauled the PC model.
It appeared, for some time at the very least, that the sport was rising now greater than ever. But, as the location factors out, the writing had been on the wall. Developer Gazillion Entertainment missed 4 of its weekly blogs, and largely stopped speaking about recreation updates. A Thor: Ragnarok DLC tie-in – one thing all Marvel motion pictures obtained in Marvel Heroes – didn’t launch as promised.
At the time of writing, Marvel Heroes Omega stays obtainable on Steam, and an official shuttering date has not been introduced.
