Deadline reports that Mads Mikkelsen — the star of Hannibal and Another Round — has been tapped to lead the upcoming science-fiction thriller Ami.
The story follows an astronaut whose ship crashes on an uncharted planet; his sole companion becomes an artificial intelligence in the form of a voice assistant (voiced by Diane Kruger).
Filming is underway in Spain. No release date has been announced. The film marks the feature directing debut of Fernando Surman.
Mikkelsen is also set to appear later this year in the fantasy-horror Catch the Monster, scheduled to open in Russia on December 25.
