Timur Bekmambetov’s “Execution Impossible” Is Now Available Online

Timur Bekmambetov’s latest cinematic venture, “Mercy,” has officially arrived on digital platforms following its theatrical window.

The high-stakes thriller stars Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Dune). The narrative centers on a police officer framed for the murder of his wife; he is forced to navigate a pulse-pounding 90-minute window to prove his innocence to a judge powered entirely by artificial intelligence.

Despite the star-studded leads, the film failed to resonate with critics, garnering a lackluster 24% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Commercially, the production struggled to find its footing, grossing $53 million globally against a $60 million budget.

This project marks Bekmambetov’s first directorial outing since 2021’s “V2. Escape from Hell.” The filmmaker is widely recognized for his eclectic filmography, which includes the supernatural “Watch” series, the action-heavy “Wanted,” the “Yolki” franchise, and the 2016 reimagining of “Ben-Hur.”
