Kotaku: GTA Remakes To Be!

While Take-2 has been a nightmare for the GTA community numerous modification bans, the thought arose that the copyright holder is preparing to release remakes of “Trilogy”… Now the reputable site Kotaku is reporting that this will indeed happen. This year, just a good occasion will turn up – in October, GTA 3 will be 20 years old!

According to Kotaku, this information is confirmed by several of their sources. According to them, in the fall on sale (but only in digital versions – physical ones are not provided, this was to be expected) updated versions will appear Gta 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas… They will combine “new and old” graphics, and will be very similar to what many mods are about reimagining GTA: Trilogy. Despite modernizing the classics, they are going to keep it true to the “PS2 era”. Rockstar Dundee is working on the project, which only has recently joined the family R * and has a re-release experience (Master Chief Collection dedicated to the Halo series). But in this she is helped by all the studios of the “rock stars” – this allegedly explains the lack of updates for Red Dead Online. But RDR fans may be amused by the fact that if the updated “Trilogy” is successful, there is a chance for a remaster of the first Red dead redemptionwhich never came to PC …

But there are also a number of statements that seem dubious. The release was originally intended to be tied to the release reprints of GTA 5 as a bonus – this is very similar to current trends, but when did Rockstar follow them? .. The pandemic also intervened in the plans, and now the possible release time is the end of October or the beginning of November. Target platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Switch, Stadia, PC and mobile devices (the last two – with some delay), and this goes against, at least, the fact that the copyright holder expressed disappointment with the Google service… And the most surprising fact in this reading matter: the joint project is allegedly created on the basis of the Unity engine, and this is strange, since Rockstar Games has its own wonderful RAGE, on which the latest games of the studio were created.

In conclusion, I would like to say that such a gift would be excellent both for the “old guard” of GTA fans and for the new generation, and would also partially (!) Justify Take-Two in its shameless attitude towards modding, which is fundamental for the long life of the Grand Theft Auto.
