In Golf Club: Wasteland, the super-rich putt on the desiccated remains of Earth

If you thought watching Jeff Bezos thanking Amazon workers for making his edge-of-space trip possible was grim, wait until you hear the premise for the upcoming game Golf Club: Wasteland.

Developed by Demagog Studio, Golf Club: Wasteland takes players on an odyssey through a future where humans have been wiped off the face of the Earth, and the planet has become a golf course for the ultra-rich.

In it, you’ll play as a rich person who now lives on Mars but has returned to Earth for a round of golf. The 2D side-scroller has you putting and driving through various scenes like abandoned factories and what looks to be a literal bitcoin mine. As you go through Golf Club: Wasteland, “You’ll piece together the fall of humanity at the hands of consumerism, Silicon Valley culture, and ecological disaster,” according to the game’s description.

The main character does it all while wearing an orange spacesuit that protects them from the elements, since, y’know, after ecological collapse, Earth is no longer habitable to humans.

Overall, the entire premise seems like a nightmare scenario for the majority of us, but hey! Could make for a fun game. Originally scheduled to launch in August, Golf Club: Wasteland is now coming on Sept. 3 to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
