GTA Online is a new way of distributing music

For at least four years now, Rockstar Games has been using GTA Online as a platform for the promotion of artists, adding explicit musical accents to each expansion of recent years. “Contract” will bring something new to the established way of life – now “rock stars” popularize not only their close associates, but also world-class stars.

The emergence of artists of various genres and directions added new DLC for “Online” musical diversity. A completely logical step in a “new” direction for the publisher was the opening of its own by CircoLoco Records… And R * didn’t stop at advertising its signers. The world famous Dr. Dre, the creator of Beats, a former member of the NWA group, a man who had a hand in the formation of hip-hop in the 90s and early 2000s, as well as a producer who opened the world, including Eminem, not only noted stellar cameo in the game… His third studio album Detox became a real meme (an analogue of Half Life 3 from the world of music) – fans have been waiting for 20 years for a long-term construction, which was supposed to be the last work of the performer (Compton 2015 is mostly a compilation and soundtrack to the Straight Outta Compton biopic, not a full solo album). And now Dre is preparing to release new music, to the creation of which he connected not only Anderson Paackbut also his longtime protégé Eminem, another rap icon.

Also in this expansion, the popular Spanish singer Rosalia will appear as the new radio station’s DJ. The name Motomami is the name of her next (third) album, which will be released in 2022. A single from the LP called LA FAMA (together with The Weeknd), for which a video has already been released, added to the station’s playlist. In Rosalia’s Instagram account, a seed video appeared, in which not only the presentation of the presenters is heard, but also the automobile novelty of the game is visible.

Before our very eyes, GTA Online is becoming a tool for advertising musicians. And in this case, you can’t tell for sure which side pays the other. Some benefit from replenishment of a musical piggy bank for constant variety, others – to PR their creativity with the help of the most popular game.
