The PlayStation Portal is a device that enables remote gaming without the need to sit in front of a monitor/TV. It comprises a DualSense controller with an 8-inch screen in the center. However, for 200 dollars, buyers only gain access to PlayStation 5 games via the Remote Play feature. Yet, enthusiasts have managed to use the PS Portal as an independent platform, successfully running GTA: Liberty City Stories on it.
In February, it was reported that two Google employees, vulnerability expert Andy Nguyen and security engineer Calle Svensson, hacked the portable device. They tested GTA: LCS using a PSP emulator named PPSSPP, requiring only 6 gigabytes of free space and no additional software manipulations. They initially planned to publish a video demonstration but ultimately did not, nor did they share detailed instructions. Instead, they reported the vulnerability to Sony, which has since released update 2.06, removing the described capability. In the comments, players expressed their disappointment about not having the valuable information shared with them. Nguyen himself responded that a fix was only a matter of time.
