Florida Georgia Line, who were primed to start their Love My Country arena and amphitheater tour Sept. 24 at Cellairis Amphitheater in Atlanta, have become the latest act to cancel their outing, citing COVID-19. They follow Garth Brooks, Stevie Nicks and Nine Inch Nails, all of whom have canceled tours or appearances over the past two weeks.
“There is nothing better than seeing all of your faces from the stage, feeling your good energy, and making memories together,” said FGL’s Tyler Hubbard in a statement. “We were hopeful we could get back on the road this fall, and are so bummed to have to cancel this tour, but we know in our hearts that we still have to make sure we’re keeping our fans and crew safe. It’s unfortunate that we have to cancel but we hope y’all understand. We love our fans and can’t wait to be back out when the time is right.”
“Although we’ve been able to see some of y’all at shows recently, everyone’s continued safety has been weighing heavy on us,” added FGL’s Brian Kelley. “To our fans, band, crew, and all of the venues around the country, thank you for your love and support! We couldn’t do what we do without you, and we hope we can all do our part to bring live music back soon.”
Last November, in the midst of the pandemic, FGL and Live Nation signed a long-term touring deal. Though FGL had utilized the promoting giant before, the new multi-year pact made Live Nation their exclusive promoter in North America. At the time, the hope was the duo would be back on the road by this summer.
Prior to the concert shutdown caused by the pandemic, FGL were a touring juggernaut. Their total gross reported to Billboard Boxscore during the aughts for 319 shows is $191 million. More than a quarter of that tally came from 2019’s Can’t Say I Ain’t Country tour, which grossed $50.7 million from 727,739 tickets sold over 41 shows, making it the group’s highest-earning tour yet.
Refunds will be automatically reissued for the 29-date tour. The opening acts were Russell Dickerson, Lauren Alaina and Redferrin.
