Filming Begins on Crime Drama “The Dog” Starring Garmash and Minekaev

The streaming platform Okko and MEM Cinema Production have officially announced the start of production for their upcoming feature film, “The Dog.”

The project stars veteran actor Sergey Garmash (“Cheburashka”) alongside rising star Ruzil Minekaev (“The Boy’s Word: Blood on the Asphalt”). The narrative follows Batorov (Garmash), a retired contract killer currently battling the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. His quiet life is disrupted when his granddaughter, Vera (Varvara Volodina), arrives for a visit with her boyfriend, Kolya (Minekaev). The situation takes a dark turn the following morning when the young couple is abducted. It is revealed that in a desperate pursuit of quick cash, Kolya had agreed to transport a vehicle loaded with illicit substances, only for it to be hijacked. Despite his fading memory, Batorov is forced back into action, squaring off first against local thugs and eventually the Chinese triads.

The high-profile ensemble cast also includes Aleksey Serebryakov, Valery Kukhareshin, Evgeny Kharitonov, and Ivan Makarevich. Konstantin Smirnov (“The Top”) serves as the director. A definitive release date has yet to be confirmed.
