Eternal happiness awaits when Little Misfortune arrives later this month

Nominative determinism, eh? It must be outlawed. If I’d been unlucky sufficient to have “Misfortune” penned on my beginning certificates I’d be off to the Deed Poll earlier than even leaving the hospital. That’s negligent parenting, Mrs Hernandez, and I’ll see you in courtroom – even if you happen to do occur to be a skeleton.

Fran Bow may’ve gotten off straightforward, however Killmonday’s follow-up Little Misfortune is principally kicking their younger lead whereas she’s down.

Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, sadly, is caught with the entire penalties that include a nasty luck moniker. It’s not all unhealthy, although – the blurb suggests Killmonday Games’ newest interactive story may have you falling in love, committing petty crimes, and petting canines/cats/fish/Kraken (delete as acceptable) on September 18th.

That arrival date was introduced through a splendidly unsettling new trailer.

Led by Mr Voice – who I assume to be the Stanley Parable narrator’s off-kilter cousin – eight-year-old Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez seeks everlasting happiness as she travels wondrous lands. Autumnal Forests! Pet cemeteries! Sewer lairs! Hell!

RPS exile Adam was quite fond of Fran Bow, calling it “imaginative, strange, unsettling, intelligent and charged with a rare and beautiful sense of hope”. Misfortune shares a universe with Fran. While it may not be as Hot Topic Goth-chic because the Swedish duo’s final outing, Little Misfortune is on no account much less unnerving.

Interested? Killmonday have had a demo sitting over on Steam and Itch.io for a couple of months now. Alyse Stanley took a look at it for us again in April, and located it delightfully morbid and definitely not cursed.

Little Misfortune hits Steam, Origin, Itch and GOG on September 18th.
