Epic Games has initiated legal proceedings against a participant alleged to have engaged in cheating during significant Fortnite Championship tournaments.
As per an official declaration by the Fortnite Competitive team, the accused player utilized both cheating software and hardware, in addition to attempting to dodge detection by employing various accounts. Despite these attempts, Epic effectively identified the player’s violations and has pursued the necessary legal recourse.
This legal suit underscores Epic’s unwavering stance against cheating, with the company emphasizing, “Cheating has no place in Fortnite and we’re doing everything we can to stop it, including legal action.” This announcement follows the recent unveiling of new initiatives by Epic aimed at enhancing the competitive environment, including upgraded systems to curb cheating.
This is not Epic’s first legal action against a cheater, nor will it be the last. In 2022, the company triumphed in a lawsuit against a hacker selling cheats and subsequently donated the awarded damages to charity.
