Bungie admits it did not know what Destiny’s Darkness was, and it will not be showing in Destiny 2

“Destiny 2 is a game about Light, and what happens when it’s taken from you, and the lengths that Guardians will go to get it back,” recreation director Luke Smith instructed Game Informer. “We’re exploring the relationship between the player and the Ghost in terms of Light, and Ghaul’s coveting of the Light. As such, we wanted to carve off other things that we didn’t think were important to the release, such as words like The Darkness.”

Bungie owes gamers some closure, he conceded, however that wouldn’t be occurring in Destiny 2. But that’s not likely as a result of Destiny 2 is about Light, it’s as a result of even Bungie was at a loss as to what The Darkness was, regardless of being its creator. “We had no idea what it was,” Smith clarified in an interview with Kotaku. “Straight up. There have been some concepts, actually. The enemies you battle in Destiny are sometimes described as related to The Darkness, or minions of The Darkness. At one level, Bungie was simply going to lump all of them collectively and say that’s what it was. The Darkness is simply these aliens you’re combating. “But that’s not what the IP deserves,” Smith admitted. “It’s like, literally not.”

It’s a weird state of affairs, and one which gained’t be solved within the sequel. But this isn’t the top of this obscure pressure for evil. Though it should watch for yet one more recreation, Bungie does not less than have some thought of what The Darkness is now.
