Bethesda: Temporary Exclusive or Better-Optimized Games on Xbox and PC

Since Microsoft’s takeover of Bethesda, hordes of fans are worried about whether their favorite franchises will continue to arrive on all platforms, or whether to expect Microsoft exclusives. According to Tim Stuart (CFO at Xbox), Microsoft refuses to use pure exclusives to promote its consoles. However, other ways to benefit PC and Xbox players are being put forward, including the possibility of seeing the games arrive in temporary exclusivity, or that of being able to benefit from better optimizations. Clearly, the games will still be available on PlayStation or Switch, but it will probably be necessary to take a look at the Xbox Series X or PC versions to be able to have the best graphics, or the best performance.

This approach is quite logical, as exclusives are less and less relevant for publishers who must make profitable games whose development costs are always higher. With this parameter in mind, it then becomes very difficult to cut yourself off from part of your potential customer base in order to promote sales from a console on which the margins are tiny.
