David Guetta's Double-LP '7' Reveals New Sonic Sides: Listen

In 16 years, French digital producer David Guetta has explored plenty of sounds. He’s served soulful home, experimental electro, radio-friendly dance-pop, loud pageant bangers and every little thing in between. He’s labored with among the largest names in music from  Usher to Nicki Minaj, Sia, Justin Bieber and Rihanna. He’s more likely to do absolutely anything.

Today, the hitmaker celebrates the discharge of his seventh album, a double-sided LP that tries to fulfill each inch of his artistic spirit. “The album is named 7 as a result of it’s my seventh album, which is loopy after I give it some thought, as a result of that’s plenty of music,” Guetta is quoted in a press launch.

7 is a magical quantity and represents a full cycle to me. When you’re simply beginning out as an artist, you go step-by-step, and it’s solely constructive power; ardour, love, challenges,” he continues. “The second part, for those who’re profitable, is whenever you’re on the prime and the power modifications to concern, as a result of whenever you’re on the prime, you cannot go up any extra. The second half, although, is the area of Jack Back, a brand new alias that returns to his club-music roots with heavy beats, soulful vocals, unusual textures and all-around warehouse vibes.

“Since the album represents a full cycle to me, I wanted to go back to the beginning of the cycle, where I’m coming from,” Guetta says. “These are actually the type of records that come more naturally to me than pop, because I’ve done this all my life. I wanted to create something very personal. I get excited by music that is part of a culture, and that’s why I wanted to make this. There is no commercial approach to it, Im doing it for the love of music.” It’s an fascinating shift in Guetta’s profession, one many needs to be intrigued and excited to see play out.

“I’m happy and in a good place, he says, and in love with the number one important thing: making music to make people happy.”
