Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix Lead Dance/Mix Show Airplay With ‘Heartbreak Anthem’

Galantis

Galantis, David Guetta and Little Mix lift from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Aug. 14) with “Heartbreak Anthem.” The second leader for Galantis and first for Little Mix, “Anthem” is the 11th topper for Guetta. Dating to the chart’s start in August 2003, only Calvin Harris and Rihanna have more, each with 12.

“Anthem” is excelling at multiple core-dance outlets, including SiriusXM’s BPM, KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco and Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel, according to MRC Data. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)

On the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, the track remains at No. 7, after reaching No. 6, with top Sales Gainer honors, up 82% to 1,000 sold in the week ending Aug. 5. It also surges 14-7 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales. The track is discounted to 69 cents in the iTunes Store, while the group celebrated a milestone just ahead of the tracking week: its 100th career week in the top 10 of the Official UK Singles Chart, a first for an all-female group. Meanwhile, a Clean Bandit remix of “Anthem” was released Aug. 6.

Elsewhere on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, Ed Sheeran soars to his sixth top 10 with “Bad Habits” (14-5). While the bulk of the song’s play for the chart is from mix show plays, it sports core-dance radio attention from iHeartRadio’s Pride Radio, KQPS (Channel Q) Palm Springs, Calif., and KNHC (C89.5) Seattle.

“Habits” also ranks at its No. 5 highs on the Billboard Hot 100 (7-5), Radio Songs (6-5) and Pop Airplay (6-5) charts.

Jhay Cortez catapults to his first Hot Dance/Electronic Songs top 10 and Skrillex collects his fifth with the No. 8 entrance of “En Mi Cuarto.” The track, which also debuts at No. 22 on the Hot Latin Songs survey, opens with 2.7 million U.S. streams, good for a No. 10 debut on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, marking Skrillex’s sixth top 10 and Cortez’s first.

Additionally on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Shouse scores its first top 10 with “Love Tonight” (11-9). The track, which topped Dance/Mix Show Airplay a week earlier, ascends with 2 million domestic streams and 1,100 downloads sold.

Plus, on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, The Black Eyed Peas benefit from 69-cent iTunes sale-pricing, flying 20-1 with “I Gotta Feeling.” The song, which topped the Hot 100 for 14 weeks in 2009, soared by 451% to 2,600 sold for its first week on top.

Reaching the summit in its 423rd week, the song obliterates the record for the longest climb to No. 1 on the chart, which began in January 2010 (when it achieved its previous No. 2 high). It passes Gorillaz’ 2005 hit “Feel Good Inc,” which needed 138 weeks to reach No. 1 this June. The Peas add their second leader on the list, after “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life),” with J Balvin, reigned for 11 weeks in 2019-20.
