BioWare’s new RPG Anthem is now in its alpha phases. Head of the studio and Anthem venture lead, Casey Husdon, says that reaching this milestone is a “tremendous achievement” for the workforce and has in contrast the power within the studio to the way it was when engaged on Baldur’s Gate.
On the BioWare weblog, Hudson went on to clarify that the Anthem alpha milestone implies that “every part of the game is in, and functioning” and that the workforce is “working with a level of passion and effort that’s truly inspiring.”
Sounds just like the Anthem alpha is shaping up properly. “These days the energy around the office feels a lot like it did back then on Baldur’s Gate, where the team is starting get a sense of the magic they’ve created together and there’s growing excitement about finally releasing it into the world,” Hudson writes.
“Being able to adventure together with your friends as a team of heroes…was a magical experience – and one that made a string impressions on me about our mission as a studio,” Hudson continues. “20 years later, I’m having the exact same feeling.”
BioWare launched the D&D based mostly RPG, Baldur’s Gate, again in 1998 and it was the studio’s first main success. Since then, BioWare has created two giants within the RPG style, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, in addition to acquiring the license and creating games for the Star Wars franchise. Revealed at E3 in 2017, Anthem is a brand new IP for the studio and can observe within the footsteps of Baldur’s Gate and BioWare’s different games for being a story-heavy, open world RPG.
